The Hotel Mariano, originally built in 1880 to accommodate the officers of the newly-born Italian Kingdom and later converted into a hotel, is situated on the Esquilino, one of the seven famous hills of ancient Rome. The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (432 - 440 BC), the Opera Theatre (1880), the Colosseum (72 BC), the Baths of Diocletian (303 BC) and the Roman National Museum are just some of the interesting places to visit close to the hotel. From Termini it is possible to reach any point of the city, via the A and B underground lines and several bus lines.
